Goat Products at our Farm

As is the case with many of our farm products, our homemade soap sprang from a desire to use clean, natural ingredients to boost our own health, and control the content of what we put on our skin. We wanted a chemical-free option for the bar soaps in the shower, and the liquid soap at the sink.

Crafted in our own kitchen, our goat milk soaps are a blend of various plant-based oils, raw goat milk, essential oils for fragrance, plant- and mineral-based natural colorings, and sodium hydroxide. Most of our ingredients are sourced through on-line companies.

Goat Milk Ice Cream!

The goat milk however, we source through a local farmer (just another way we can stay connected with our farming network, and promote other local businesses).  At this time, we do not raise our own goats.  Perhaps one day we will join the fray in doing so!

Our soaps are made using a cold-process method – oils are melted on heat, and then mixed with the lye/water off heat. This provides a smoother bar, and gives us the flexibility of using fancy molds as well the loaf mold. Because we use raw milk, cold-process soap making also maintains nutrients in the milk such as alpha-hydroxy acids (helpful in getting rid of dead skin cells), Vitamin A, and selenium (may play a role in preventing skin cancers).

If seasonally available, we’ll also use our homegrown garden herbs in the soap – either as a natural additive or natural colorant.
